The Royal Opera House, based in Covent Garden, central London, is home to the Royal Opera, the Royal Ballet, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. A registered charity with national reach, our world-class performances and trailblazing learning and participation programmes enrich people's lives with ballet and opera.
We are seeking dedicated and passionate volunteers to support the development and implementation of Alternative Text across social media channels and webpages.
About Alternative Text
Alternative Text, often referred to as "alt text," is a concise and descriptive text associated with images, videos, or other non-text elements. It plays a crucial role in making digital content accessible to people who are blind or vision impaired, ensuring they can comprehend and enjoy the content through screen readers or other assistive technologies. Schedule and commitment
- Can you give 3-5 hours per week during the period June -December 2024?
- You can do the volunteer work on a flexible schedule. It's easy to fit in around your other commitments.
- You will need to be available occasionally to meet online with ROH staff during office hours (Monday-Friday, 10:00-18:00).
New volunteer induction and training dates
- Session 1 of 2: Wednesday 19 June 2024, 15:00-18:00
- Session 2 of 2: Wednesday 26 June 2024, 15:00-18:00.
We particularly encourage volunteer applicants who have lived experience of a disability or health condition and who would benefit from the opportunity to volunteer remotely.
